Purpose:

To procure a Design and Build Contractor to undertake upgrade works to Festival Square Sewerage Treatment Works

Decision:

The Council award a contract to C G Godfrey Ltd to undertake a design and build contract to upgrade the existing sewage treatment works, with an estimated value of £ 305,220.60.

Reasons for the decision:

To upgrade the existing Festival Square Sewage Treatment Works to meet the demands of local households and ensure the Council remains compliant with the discharge consent.

Alternative options considered:

Option 1 - Do nothing. The effluent from the works will continue to deteriorate and the Council could be in breach of its discharge consent. If the Council is unable to rectify the issue, there is at risk of prosecution.  Option not recommended.

 

Option 2 - To award the contract to an alternative contractor. This is not considered to be appropriate because, following the evaluation process, C G Godfrey Ltd submitted the most economically advantageous tender. Option not recommended.
