The contract for supply of building materials
for Housing Repairs is due for renewal - this report will set out
the preferred options following the tender exercise.
To award the supply of building materials contracts for the Housing Repairs Service for a period of three years plus an option to extend each lot for a further period of one year.
That the Council awards the following contracts:
Lot 1; General Materials – Jewsons Ltd
Lot 2; Carpentry – Jewsons Ltd
Lot 3; Joinery – Jewsons Ltd
Lot 4; Plumbing – Wolseley Ltd (Plumb Centre)
All tender submissions were assessed in conjunction with Procurement colleagues in accordance with the rules of the Procurement Framework. The organisations listed in the recommendations above scored highest when assessed against the 70 % for cost and 30% for quality scoring matrix.
Do Nothing and allow open trade with local merchants - this is not considered a viable option as spend on materials would be non-compliant. Further to this, the Council would not benefit from the fixed pricing structure or KPIs around supply of materials that are built into a contract.
