The current tractor used for grounds
maintenance work is more than 20 years old and in need of
replacement. All required procurement processes have been
undertaken (5 quotes) and we are confident that the quote below
provides best value for the Council based on the requirements of
the service and machines.
Purchase is from Doubleday (Holbeach)
Quote for the,
John Deere 5075E Tractor, £36,000.00 plus VAT
John Deere H240 Front loader, £8,500.00 plus VAT
A total of £44,500.00
To continue to ensure the Councils tractor is
reliable and in good repair so we are able to continue to provide
the residents of South Holland with a good service. Replacement
will result in increased effectiveness, efficiency, quality and
deliver value for money. Ensuring that our tractor is in good
repair will assist with reduced costs with less breakdowns, which
can be expensive and result in lots of down time. The purchase of
the tractor has been undertaken with our procurement department and
is within the agreed capital budget
Consideration was given to not purchasing and
retaining the older machine for longer but was decided against due
to the risk of mechanical failure and therefore SHDC being unable
to provide a good reliable service to our residents.
