Decision:

East Lindsey DC have appointed a trainee/apprentice building control officer to the establishment of their building control team. To ensure the apprentice/trainee is afforded a rounded on the job learning experience across all building types and with a variety of qualified mentors, said officer will undertake training in all three Council areas that make up the South and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership.

The decision being sought is under Section 113 of the Local Government Act 1972 for South Holland DC to agree to temporarily share a trainee/apprentice building control officer (SD) appointed to East Lindsey DC with Boston BC and East Lindsey DC to enable opportunities for a successful training outcome.

Reasons for the decision:

To ensure the apprentice/trainee Building Control Officer is afforded a rounded on the job learning experience across all building types and with a variety of qualified mentors available across our sub region. This approach will support service provision locally by ‘growing our own talent’ as well as supporting the building control profession nationally.
