To accept an offer of £817,961 in Government funding to support the delivery of six new homes for the Housing Revenue Account. The funding is available from the Local Authority Housing Fund programme.
To delegate authority to Assistant Director of Strategic Growth & Development, in conjunction with the Leader of the Council, to accept the grant allocation of £817,961 for the delivery of six new homes for the HRA and to agree and conclude contractual matters with Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) in relation to this grant and to sign any grant agreement.
This report seeks agreement to accept the funds offered, and for the authority to take part in the programme. The expected benefits to be derived from this report are contained within. The grant funding will enhance the current HRA capital programme for new homes. The provision of new HRA homes will enhance choice for applicants on the housing register.
The objective of the Local Authority Housing Fund R3 is twofold;
Firstly, and in the short term, to increase the supply of accommodation available to meet the needs of households legally resettled in the UK from conflict in Afghanistan.
Secondly, in meeting the first objective, affording local authorities the opportunity to bring about a positive net benefit to their available housing stock levels, which can in turn support in meeting housing needs in their area into the longer term.
To not accept the grant funding in which case the authority would not benefit from this external investment when delivering new homes for the HRA.
