Licensing Update

Licensing and Business Support Manager to be in attendance to provide an update on the functions that fall under the remit of the Licensing Committee.

Minutes:

The Licensing and Business Support Manager provided an update to the amount of license applications that had been received during quarter 1 and 2. After receiving this update, members raised the following points;

Members asked if all current licenses would expire on 31 December 2018. Officers responded that this was the case for the vast majority of licenses, but that there were some which would expire slightly afterwards and some which would expire slightly before.

Members asked if officers had received what they considered to be a lot of applications, given the tighter regulations. Officers responded that this was the case. The tightening of the regulations meant that more people were required to licence themselves.

Members felt that the annual examination of taxis was too infrequent and asked for this to be looked at during the review of the taxi policy.

Members asked that, at the next meeting they be provided with an itemised list of how many of each type of license the authority currently oversaw.

AGREED:

1)    That the contents of the Licensing Update be noted.

2)    That members be provided with a list of each type of Licence was issued by the Council and how many are issued.
