Declarations of Interest

Minutes:

Consideration was given to the minutes of the meeting of the Licensing Committee held on 13 February 2020.

15.

Licensing Update

Licensing and Business Support Manager and Licensing Team Leader to be in attendance to provide a verbal update on the functions that fall under the remit of the Licensing Committee. 

 

Minutes:

The Licensing and Business Support Manager and Licensing Team Leader updated the Committee on new statutory Taxi and Private Hire vehicle standards for authorities to implement. The draft Taxi and License Policy was due to go out to consultation but this was put on hold due to Covid-19.  The new National standards would now be incorporated into the draft policy. 

 

Members were informed that Licensing authorities were expected to implement the new standards which would improve consistency in the Licensing system amongst all Councils.  The aim of this would be to reduce the risk of harm to children and all vulnerable passengers.

 

The Licensing Team Leader also informed the Committee of mandatory training for Members who determine such licenses as required.  This training would be required in child sex abuse and exploitation and natural justice.  Further information was to be given when this would be required.
